It was billed as Coffee with a Cop, but the Highland Senior Center had to make it a little special, so it turned out to be Breakfast with a Cop, including pancakes and coffee.

The California Highway Patrol hosted its first “Coffee with a Cop” meeting, appropriately at the Mars Hill Coffeehouse Dec. 13 as a way to meet with residents of San Benito County to discuss their concerns. About a dozen or so locals took up Capt. Scott Parker’s and Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Chris Miceli’s invitation to talk informally about anything related to roads and traffic enforcement.

“We’ve been promoting a lot trying to get out to the public. We’ve done coffee with a cop, pizza with a cop and we’ve been doing all kinds of things just to get out there and talk to everybody and let them know that hey, we’re here for them. Mountain View police dog laps up ‘Pup-accino’

The Mountain View Police Department Labrador received a special “Pup-accino” from a local Starbucks during a department outreach event. Zeus lapped up the Pup-accino— a cup filled with whipped cream (no coffee involved!) —after he “politely” asked for it during the department’s final Coffee with a Cop event at Starbucks on San Antonio Road in Mountain View, police spokeswoman Katie Nelson said.

More than a dozen officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) mingled with residents over pastries and hot joe on Tuesday, Dec. 12, as the department hosted Coffee with a Cop for two hours in the morning at West End Coffeehouse on North Broad Street near downtown.
