A number of people stopping by the McDonald’s on North Main in Elmira, this morning, for “Coffee with a Cop”.
It’s an outreach by members of the restaurant and the Elmira Police Department to build relationships with the community.
Both kids and adults were welcome, and a free cup of coffee was offered. The youngest were given coloring books and cookies.
“This gives us an opportunity to have that initial contact with a child as a positive relationship,” Joseph Kane, Chief of Police at the Elmira Police Department, said.
“Well they inspired me and I’ve been dreaming about being a cop,” Shiloh Thoman, one of the younger community members who joined, said.
With the success of the first “Coffee with a Cop”, the restaurant’s owner hopes to hold more events like this.
