In one last effort before the new year, Warner Robins Police Department held it’s annual “Coffee With A Cop Day” at Cuban Island Cafe.

Public Information Officer, Jennifer Parson says coffee with a cop gives residents in the community the opportunity to express their issues and converse with officers over a cup of coffee.

“There’s no surprise that officers love coffee, and we never been to this Cuban Cafe for Coffee with a cop. It’s our first time here. We are so thankful they allowed us in this morning. Their coffee is amazing, we’re having a great time and we just appreciate their hospitality,” says Parson.

This is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice and Warner Robins Police Department participates every year.

Resident Deja Sherman says after dropping her kids off at school she decided to stop by for more information and to give officers a thank you for their services.

“I asked one of the officers does she ever get nervous or afraid and she told me no, you get used to it as time goes by.”

The program’s goal is to advance community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.
