Officers connect with community with ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event

“Getting to interact and seeing other people interact and knowing that police officers are just as human,” said attendee Donna Phelps. “I mean they’re just like us, they’re have their lives put on the line. They will put their life on the line for you if need be.”

UCPD hosts Coffee with a Cop to facilitate dialogue with the Westwood community

Kelly Mustapha-Kellett, a manager at Starbucks in Westwood, said she was excited about the turnout of the event. She said she plans to host Coffee with a Cop every two months at Starbucks to provide UCLA students and the Westwood community with a way to express their concerns with UCPD. “We are using the environment as it’s meant to be used – as a shared space for everyone,” Mustapha-Kellett said.

Coffee with a Cop held for disaster victims

Police and other government agencies came together today to support and assist the people of Townsville who have been affected by the recent flooding seen in the area.

“Originally we were going to do it only once a year,” Maciol said. “After we saw the success we were having, we started doing it once-a-month. So one Friday a month now, we go somewhere different than the month before.”

Coffee with a Cop was hosted this morning at the Ener-Tel Services building located at 1911 S. Bryant Blvd. So, to start the day, officers and emergency personnel that work with San Angelo Police Department filtered into the building to come and connect with the community.
