Attending the event was Dee Lim, a Chinese speaking social worker from Relationship Australia Queensland, who said that this initiative is great for the South Brisbane community and looks forward to working together in May for Family Violence Prevention Month.
With the help of Police Liaison Officers (PLOs) and Volunteers with Police (ViPs) attendees from near and far were able to receive timely home and personal safety advice and treat themselves to a free coffee thanks to McDonalds who said they were delighted to be part of this initiative.
You know a breakfast event is successful beyond expectations when the restaurant runs out of eggs before it is over. That was the situation at Oak Park Public Safety Department’s “Coffee with a Cop” event Saturday morning at 9 Oaks Grill.
There was a large police presence Saturday morning at a Central Lubbock coffee shop, but they weren’t there because a crime had been committed. Instead, the LPD officers were enjoying a “cup of joe” and interacting with Lubbock residents as part of their “Coffee with a Cop” program.
Police from Dutton Park Station and the Riverside Patrol Group were given a warm welcome by the Bar Spritz management and staff yesterday on the cliffs of Kangaroo Point for a Coffee With A Cop event.
The first every Valley-wide Coffee With A Cop was held on the morning of Saturday, March 2 at Starbucks in Alamosa. Representatives from many of the Valley’s law enforcement agencies dropped by throughout three hours to have coffee, light snacks and casual conversation with community members.
St. Luke’s Villa, owned and operated by The Diocese of Scranton 80 E. Northampton St., Wilkes-Barre, recently hosted Coffee With a Cop & K-9s featuring K-9’s “Skoty” and “Chase.”
“I think it’s an awesome opportunity to meet the cops, and it’s just a relaxed atmosphere,” Burke said. “I see it becoming some kind of a regular thing if they would want to do it again. It’s a great meeting place to come and enjoy a drink.”
Despite the wet weather, hundreds of locals, tourists, community leaders and stakeholders had the chance to meet their local police, receive timely home and personal safety advice and treat themselves to FREE coffee and a sausage sizzle courtesy of Brisbane City Council’s Safer Community Initiative and South Brisbane Men’s Shed.
