There’s a new coffee trend in town, but this time it’s not single origin coffee or fancy cappuccino designs. The new upcoming coffee trend is bringing new friends into our lives and is slowly becoming the change that we hope to see in the world.
Residents of Douglas County got the opportunity to have a no-pressure chat with law enforcement officers during the Oct. 2 Coffee with a Cop event. Children and adults asked the deputies all types of questions from “how many people have you arrested today” to “what’s that on your belt?”
“It makes me feel safe and secure, and just to meet them, see how hardworking and professional they are, gives me more of a sense of security,” she said. “Not that I didn’t know it was a safe area, but they’re great. So it’s a good thing to get the reassurance.”
“We had a great turn out of all ages to come down and meet many of the Sparta Police Officers that are proud to serve this great community of Sparta,” Spidaletto said. “We are committed to our mission to serve and protect sworn on the Oath we took.”
Coffee with Cops is an initiative that’s embraced annually as it was celebrated in Syracuse on October 2nd with the SPD attending several sessions throughout the city. National Coffee with a Cop Day is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public over a cup of coffee.
It was pink hats galore and Glen Rock police officers promoting safety with a cup of coffee Saturday, Oct. 5 in their version of Glen Rock Police Department’s Coffee with a Cop program they held at the Main Line Train Station.

With the concept of “community policing,” where the police are an interactive part of the community, and everything moving at net speed, Coffee with a Cop provides an opportunity for the community and all of its parts to come together and take a collective breath.
Coffee with a Cop — an internationally recognized not-for-profit organization to promote open lines of communication between local communities and the police and first responders who serve in them — went off without a hitch at the Branding Iron Bistro for Pierre’s fourth Coffee with a Cop event last Wednesday morning, Oct. 2.
