Morgantown Police Department takes part in ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event

Wednesday morning, officers from the Morgantown Police Department took part in a ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event.

Wednesday’s event was held at McDonald’s on University Avenue in Morgantown.

This is a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn about what the department is doing in local neighborhoods.

“It’s a great chance for us to meet with them on somewhat of a casual basis so that maybe they can open up to us a little bit more. Get to know us a little bit more. It helps to break down barriers of whatever preconceived notions they might have of the police department, police officers,” said Eric Powell, Deputy Chief of the Morgantown Police Department.

These ‘Coffee with a Cop’ events take place all across the country, helping to build trust between the police and community.
