Moline residents have ‘Coffee with a Cop’

Dozens of people got together this morning at the Moline Public Library for “Coffee with a Cop.”

Moline police sat down with people in the community and had a conversation about their concerns.

Many people in the community say it’s a great way to interact on a more personal level.

One sergeant said it’s also a great way to improve trust and build healthy relationships.
“This is 80 percent of our job anyhow, sitting down and talking to people and it’s nice to be able to do that in a context where they didn’t call because of an emergency,” said Jeremy Weeks Moline police sergeant. “It’s nice to be able to sit down and talk to people in a more relaxed environment where they can ask us questions and we can give them good thoughtful answers.”

The Friends of the Moline Public Library and the Police Benevolent Association provided the cups and coffee.

The library plans to host “Coffee with a Cop” at least  2-3 times a year.
