Today, officers from Capalaba Police Beat hosted another successful Coffee with a Cop event. The event was held at the Coffee Club at the Capalaba Park Shopping Centre.
This interactive initiative aims to encourage positive community engagement with the local police. There’s no agendas or speeches, just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and to get to know thelocal police officers.
Representatives from Crimestoppers and Police Volunteers in Policing (VIP’s) were in attendance today, handing out brochures on personal and home security, including a range of other topics.
Admin Officer, Pauline Dunn, who has help run a number of Coffee with a Cop events said it is great to see how Coffee with a Cop has evolved.
“It is wonderful to see other policing areas around the state, adopt this initiative,”
“Since Coffee with a Cop started, our local police often are provided with information that has led to arrests or to help people in difficult situations,” she said.
“Members of the public, find the environment relaxing and less intimidating, this makes people feel at ease and comfortable to approach officers with information or to ask questions.”
These event are for all ages, while the parents and adults were asking officers questions our cheeky younger community members were busy playing in the police cars, colouring in and taking photos with the officers.
We will keep you updated for our next local Coffee with a Cop!
