In the nearly 30 years of my career as a police officer with the Queensland Police Service, I have at times participated in some challenging and demanding activities.
But on the first Tuesday of every month, between 10am and 11am, I participate in one of my favourite activities of my career – interacting with the public over a coffee at Stella Rossa Cafe at Mount Pleasant Shopping centre.
I’m often joined by my supervisor, Sergeant Nigel Dalton, and together we work hard to bring colleagues along with us to talk with those who attend.
This morning Mackay’s Detective Inspector Bruce Duck and Officer in Charge of Mackay Northern Beaches Station, Senior Sergeant Adrian Rieck, joined us for November’s Coffee with a Cop event.
We had a great turn out from residents, who were very happy just to sit and chat over a coffee about any topic which came to mind. Two shoppers also stopped to talk to officers about phone scamming incidents (one leaving the victim out of pocket for many thousands).
Time goes very quick when you are drinking nice coffee I can assure you we are very grateful to the staff at Stella Rossa who support the event.
We don’t mind if you are stopping in to talk, or just want to talk about your shopping, you are more than welcome to drop in and see us.
Please remember, the first Tuesday of each month, from 10am to 11am, we will be at the Stella Rossa Cafe, Mount Pleasant Shopping Centre.
A huge thank you to Holly Moore from Mount Pleasant Shopping centre administration, for getting this monthly event off the ground and keeping it in the public eye.
