We love going to our Bay Islands and Saturday’s Coffee with a Cop at The Organic Market on Macleay Island was a great excuse to do just that!

Not only did everyone that attended get to enjoy primo coffee and tea, great company, personalised road safety information but if you were lucky enough you even got to cuddle a nice little doggy.

Officer in Charge of Macleay Island Police, Sergeant Dave Purcell was on hand and proved his worth when offering solutions to road safety questions.

Like all good local officers who take ownership of their patch, Dave was already well aware of local road issues and with jetty carpark construction underway, Dave was able to cover off many a ‘who gives way’ query.

Police Liaison Officers (PLO), Volunteers in Policing (ViPs), Crime Stoppers and of course us at Bayside District Crime Prevention (DCPC) did what we do best (drink coffee and play hool-a-hoop with kids – no photos sorry)

As a police officer, you get good days and bad days and I think it’s fair to say that Saturday was indeed a good day!

Thanks go out to The Organic Market for their hospitality and to all Macleay Islanders who took the time to come and share a free coffee on us.
