When Starbucks offered to host the York Regional Police Department for a Coffee with a Cop event, the department was happy to take part.

Eager to help bridge the gap between police and their community, Starbucks in Olde Tollgate Village in York Township welcomed Police Chief Tim Damon and Sgt. Pete Montgomery on Tuesday, Jan. 16, as they represented the department.

“We came out here to meet the community and answer any questions they have,” Damon said.

Free coffee was offered from an insulated container at the end of a large table. At the opposite end Tanner Coplin, of Dallastown, sat with his two sons, Greyson, 3, and Logan, 1.

“We’re regulars here,” Coplin said of being at Starbucks while handing Logan bites of cereal from a baggie. The Coplin trio spoke at length with Damon on a variety of topics from careers to Greyson’s Spider-Man masked hoodie.

“It was nice to have conversations on an individual level with people about their experiences,” Damon said. “We’re definitely encouraged to do this in the future.”
