Yesterday, we formally launched Coffee with a Cop in the Whitsundays.

The event was held at Whitsunday Plaza from 10am.

The local support for the event was huge with Water Police, Police Citizens Youth Club, uniformed officers, Whitsunday detectives, Mackay Crime Prevention Unit and Volunteers in Policing from both Mackay and the Whitsundays attending.

A huge shout out to local officers who attended and supported the event while they were off duty.

The support from the local community and business representatives was equally huge.

Residents, families, tourists and businesses all took advantage of the great opportunity to approach our friendly officers in a social setting and have a chat over a coffee.

There were a few tears shed into coffee cups by some devoted Queensland Maroon State of Origin supporters – but as a group, we pushed through this grief.

Police also discussed road safety, domestic and family violence, scams, elder abuse and much more with local residents.

I would like to thank Sergeant Billy Li from the Whitsunday Police Station for organising the successful event, all of the QPS members who got involved and a gigantic thanks to community members!

We are looking forward to our next Coffee with a Cop event in the near future.

Of note, Sergeant Dalton has set a personal best score of eating 16 doughnuts during the course of the event.

The bar has been set very high…
