On Sunday, July 15, Coochiemudlo Island was the location for our latest Coffee with a Cop at the Redrock Cafe. The day also happened to be the inaugural Matthew Flinders Day.
The day was filled with local community members and plenty of tourists enjoying the sunshine. This made a perfect opportunity to have our Coffee with a Cop event, which welcomes members of the public to ask questions and to be apart of open discussions about community issues.
A big topic of the day was clearing up confusion on, when to contact police and which line to contact. Here are a few tips to remember:
If it’s urgent or life threatening, call 000.
If it has already occurred and is non life threatening, call Policelink – 131 444
If you would like to report is anonymously, call Crime Stoppers – 1800 333 000
Police would like to thank everyone who was involved with the day; Volunteers in Police (ViPs), Crime Stoppers volunteers, Redland City Council who sponsored the coffees and of course the locals and tourists who turned up in droves to chat and drink coffee.
Coochiemudlo Island residents really do live in a little bayside piece of paradise and with the weather perfect complimenting the conversations over coffee it was a little sad to have to leave work to go home!
