Waco’s first Coffee With A Cop event on Thursday drew several officers and a bunch of citizens together to have coffee donuts and conversation.
The event was planned in an effort to bring police and the community they serve together to get to know each other better, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
The event was held at Shipley’s Donuts, on Hewitt Drive, beginning at 7 a.m., and was open to the public.
About a dozen police officers and several dozen citizens spent a couple of hours talking and exchanging ideas, Swanton said.
Police say they plan to have more similar events in the future because they benefit both officers and the public, Swanton said.
