Law enforcement officers in central Kentucky got the chance Saturday morning to hear concerns from the people they protect.
Officers with the Richmond Police Dept. held “Coffee With a Cop” at the Chick-Fil-A at Richmond Centre.
Police said it’s a great way to share face-to-face conversations with the community.
Megan Isaacs was pleasantly surprised as she grabbed breakfast.
“I think it’s awesome,” Isaacs said. “I think it’s a great idea for them to come out and meet with the community.”
“Coffee with a Cop” is an informal way for officers to get to know the folks they serve.
“Break down those social barriers we have where we are always in a police cruisers and handling calls,” said Chief James Ebert.”
A popular conversation topic Saturday: drugs.
“We talked about some of the issues with the heroin epidemic and how we’re combatting things,” Ebert said. “You know it’s affecting everybody.”
