OCPD launches new “Cones With Cops” event

We’ve all heard of coffee with a cop, but what about cones with cops?

The Ocean City Police Department is launching this initiative geared towards kids.

At a recent coffee with a cop event, a little girl raised the question, “What about kids? Kids don’t like coffee.”

That question sparked the idea of “Cones with Cops”.

The first cones with cops event will be held on August 18th at the Dumsers on Worcester Street and Philadelphia Avenue.

At the event, kids will be able to meet OCPD’s K-9 unit, police horses, and even get into their police cars and turn on sirens.

Lindsay Richard, the Public Information Officer for Ocean City Police said, “I think it will be a great time for little kids. Everyone loves our horses and our K-9’s and to turn the siren on on a police car, that’s got to be such a cool experience for a little kid, so we’re really looking forward to it.”

Perhaps the best part? Dumsers will be giving away free ice cream to anyone ages 12 and under at the event.
