Trooper David Peters, Troop N Public Information Officer told about the event “Different things, some people relate some troubles that maybe they’re having in their community that we can take back to the station and tell our patrols. They drive around a little bit more, be a little more observant in that area.”
“I feel that the people that have come in today to sit and talk with the cops, they feel more comfortable with them,” McDonald’s general manager Samantha Moyer said. “If they have any questions, if they need any insight on something, they’re getting those answers and seeing that the cops aren’t as bad as social media or the news makes them out to be.”
Springwood Police and Logan City Council were in Rochedale South on Friday, speaking with the community about crime reduction initiatives. Constable Mike McDonald and Councillor Lisa Bradley enjoyed answering questions and listening to concerns raised by the locals and business owners at the Coffee with a Cop, held at The Deli Café.
“It’s really important that people know, police officers aren’t always in the law enforcement mode, sometimes the only interaction you have is the ticket you got, we like to have them meet police officers in a different type of setting,” Michael Badger, Springfield Police Department said.
From “Coffee with Cops” to “Pastries with Police”, communities nationwide are doing what they can to back the blue, but one boy, in particular, is taking his sweet treats across the country. Tyler Carach, better known as “Donut Boy” has made it his mission to hit all 50 states in the country and deliver donuts to police officers.
Telephone and internet scams topped the list of concerns for many residents in the Cobblestone Crossings community who had “Coffee With A Cop” on Wednesday.
Yesterday, March 13, the community were invited to come and meet the local Griffin Neighbourhood Watch team, Police and Cafe 63 Griffin to help build a better relationships.
Unsung heroes gained popularity yesterday as McDonald’s owners Freddie and Rosa Rosada honored local law enforcement, security and a firefighter. Police Det. Michael Schiaretti, Ofc. Christopher Munn, Firefighter Naseeb Washington, Mercer County Sheriff Ofc. Pat Papero and Alphonzo Harrell of Capital City Protection Services were named as “Coffee With a Cop Community Service Award” honorees.
