National ‘Coffee with a Cop Day’ Takes Place in Syracuse and Across the Country

Coffee with Cops is an initiative that’s embraced annually as it was celebrated in Syracuse on October 2nd with the SPD attending several sessions throughout the city. National Coffee with a Cop Day is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public over a cup of coffee.
We caught up with the coffee caravan as they reached Salt City Coffee, 509 W. Onondaga St., Syracuse, NY 13204 where they were schedule between 1:00PM and 3:00PM.
Officer Liz Helterline along with SPD Public Information Officer, Sgt. Matthew Malinowski, Mayor Ben Walsh, Chief Kenton Buckner several SPD Officers and a special guest looking for a “forever home”. A recent addition to our local animal shelter the young black lab pit mix traveled with the crew as he greeted everyone with an enthusiastic wag of the tail.
Prior to closing out their day at Salt City Coffee the group visited other locations participating in the National Coffee with a Cop Day.; McDonalds, 1804 Teall Ave, Syracuse, NY 13206; McDonalds, 2442 Erie Blvd E., Syracuse, NY 13224; Broadway Café & Arctic Island, 210 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13205.
This was another outreach effort by the SPD as they stated in their announcement to participate, “Please join us in our efforts of bringing the community together.”
