If you went to the South Broadway Starbucks Wednesday morning, chances are you were served by a Minot Police officer. Not to worry, nothing criminal was happening; it’s National Coffee with a Cop Day.
Starbucks nationwide are participating to connect police officers with the communities they serve.
We often see police at work in stressful situations, such as a traffic stop, an accident or investigating a crime. Coffee with a Cop gives the people of Minot a chance to connect with the officers that serve their community in a more relaxed setting.
“It’s good to get out with the community. We are out here trying to help people as it is. Why shouldn’t we be able get to know them? I work nights, I don’t get to talk to these people. I get to talk to a completely different group of people, the night crowd you know. People I get to talk to today it’s nice to get out and about and have a coffee with them,” said Night Shift Patrolman Andrew Roach.
The Starbucks on South Broadway was recognized nationally by the Starbucks corporation for their work on Coffee with a Cop.
