Local law enforcement was making connections in their community this weekend.

The Lima and Elida Police Departments, as well as the Marion Township Police Department, were out at the West St. McDonald’s sharing coffee and some conversation with the people in the area. Lt. Andy Green says more often than not, people interact with police officers in passing or while they are on the job, and this gives them a chance to actually get to know the people patrolling in their neighborhood.

“While those may not be bad experiences, we would rather have people interact with our officers in a casual conversation and get to know us as people, not just police officers,” said Green. “And, allow them the opportunity to tell us what’s going on in their neighborhood.”

The next big Coffee with a Cop event will be in October for their annual Halloween preparedness event.
