Huntingdon Borough police say having a good relationship with the community is one of the most important things –and having a cup of coffee with the residents is a great way to get the conversation started.

Huntingdon Borough resident John Gradwell has many concerns for his community.

“We have a tremendous amount of people disregarding the 25 mile an hour speed limit. Where I live is on a hill with a slight turn and that causes me difficulty with a wheelchair to get to my mailbox,” Gradwell said.

He also says drugs are being sold in a nearby park. That’s what brought him to Standing Stone Coffee Company for Huntingdon Borough’s Coffee with a Cop.”It just brings the community together…brings us face-to-face, and just enables us talk about what’s going on,” Huntingdon Borough Police Corporal Charles Streightiff said.

“The thing I like about it tonight, sir, is they listen. They listened to what the residents had to say. And they’re taking heed and they’re going to try and see if they can fix some of these problems,” Gradwell said.

Huntingdon police hope to have another event like this at the beginning of summer.
