Officers from the Rochedale South and Springwood police beats, and Acting Senior Sergeant Charmaine Leafe, Officer in Charge of Springwood station, hosted a ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event at Biscuit Café, Springwood yesterday.
The event, supported by Logan City Council’s Community Safety Program and run in collaboration with Councillor Lisa Bradley, enabled the officers to strengthen relationships with the local community over a cup of coffee in an informal setting.
“It was a great opportunity to engage the community and present a human side of the Queensland Police Service to the public,” Acting Senior Constable McDonald said.
“By collaborating with the Logan City Council we are able to address a number of personal safety and security concerns in the local community and identify areas for future Volunteers in Policing (VIP) and LCC deployments.
“We also debunked a few myths about police in general and were able share a serious message about community safety in a fun and relaxed way.”
The local beat officers will be hosting more ‘Coffee with a Cop’ events in the near future and we will keep you posted!
