Coffee With Lower Saucon Police Officers at Giant

The coffee was strong and so was the law enforcement presence at the Giant Starbucks in Lower Saucon Township Saturday morning, and for a couple of good reasons.

The Lower Saucon Township Police Department held a “Coffee With Cops” event at the coffee kiosk in the store’s northeast front corner, which provided residents an opportunity to talk to officers in an informal setting.

In conjunction with the DEA’s annual National Drug Takeback Day, officers also accepted unwanted prescription drugs from residents for destruction.

Lower Saucon Police Chief Tom Barndt and several other officers–including Ofc. James Connell, Ofc. Charles Werkheiser and Ofc. Kyle Haggerty–were at the store from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to interact with shoppers, answer questions and collect pills and other medications.
