Coffee with a Cop, the popular meet and greet function in the NYPD’s 103rd Precinct, had another installment on Oct. 4 at the Starbucks locations in Jamaica at Sutphin Boulevard and 89th Avenue and Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street.
An added feature last week was the initial visit of Deputy Inspector Peter Fortune, who took over as commanding officer of the 103rd last month after transferring from the 114th Precinct in Astoria.
Among the visitors were NYPD Chief Joanne Jaffe, commanding officer of the department’s Community Affairs Bureau, meeting residents and community leaders, top left.
Coffee with a Cop was designed with the idea of allowing police officers, both beat cops and precinct leadership, to meet with members of the community in a relaxed, informal setting.
Officers from the 103rd’s own Community Affairs office as well as its Neighborhood Coordination Officer program were present.
And both members of the community and Fortune’s new officers were able to see him, with some expert guidance from a Starbucks barista, right create the perfect latte, far right.
