Community members and Roseville Police officers connected Wednesday over fresh coffee at McDonald’s during a Coffee with a Cop event.

Coffee with a Cop is a national law enforcement program that provides an opportunity for local police officers and community members to discuss community issues. This program provides both parties to connect in a way that they might not in other settings, according to regional McDonald’s spokeswoman Amanda Allnutt.

Coffee with a Cop builds relationships between community members and law enforcement at an informal, neutral environment, according to Allnutt. Coffee with a Cop sessions provide community residents the opportunity to sit down with officers, ask questions and discover mutual goals for their community.

“There were approximately 20 officers at the event this morning, including motorcycle units,” Allnutt said Wednesday. “We very much look forward to partnering with Roseville PD again on another event in the future and will be sure to loop you in when we can get something scheduled.”

All attendees receive a free cup of McCafé coffee, courtesy of their neighborhood McDonald’s according to Allnutt.

“The first Wednesday of October is deemed National Coffee With A Cop Day, when thousands of police, sheriff, campus, local and federal law enforcement agencies participate in community events across the country,” Allnutt said. “In addition to interacting with local law enforcement agencies, guests will have the opportunity to dialogue with elected officials from their area, including city councilmembers and state senators.”

Roseville Police Department spokesman Rob Baquera attended the event.

“Coffee with a Cop is a great police community relations program,” Baquera said. “We always enjoy connecting with residents over a cup of coffee. It gives us a great chance to hear from residents about good things and bad things going on in the city.”
