Avon residents came to Barry Bagels for a conversation with four Avon police officers on October 4. The event was a mixer and is usually done twice a year.

Officers in attendance included Captain Larry Fischbach, Sergeant Kevin Collins, Patrolman Patrick Sullivan and Patrolman Jeannine Mazzeo.

Pastor Elise Pitts of Avon’s Christian Heritage Church attended and said, “We support the police. We love and appreciate our police officers. We have the best team.” Her husband Jim said, “They’re the best. You can’t operate any city without them.”

The police department describes the get-together as a chance to ask questions and voice concerns with no agenda or speeches.

About a dozen Avon residents attended. The officers mingled with everyone and Mayor Bryan Jensen stopped by.

The purpose of the Coffee with a Cop program is to create a dialogue between the officers and the citizens they serve. The event removes agendas and simply allows residents an opportunity to get to know the officers.
