With a lot of stories about crime in the headlines over the past few months, people in Sioux Falls had the opportunity to discuss their concerns with officers in a non-threatening manner.

The Sioux Falls Police Department hosted two Coffee With a Cop events Tuesday – one at Flyboy Donuts and one at the Falls Overlook Cafe.

And while it may be a break from patrolling for the the officers involved, they’re still busy building relationships, which will help them in the long-run.

“So we can talk to you in a more comfortable environment, we’re not there because someone called the police or you’re having a bad day, but somewhere where literally we can sit down and have coffee and we’ve had a lot of good success with this program,” Sgt. Andrew Siebenborn said.

Officers said they aim to hold Coffee With a Cop events three or four times a year.
