On Wednesday morning, Framingham police joined other departments from throughout the country in marking the eighth annual “Coffee With a Cop” day. Framingham officers sat and met with residents to discuss community policing and other issues at the Starbucks in Shoppers World.

“Coffee with A Cop” is a nonprofit organization that was launched in Hawthorne, California, in 2011, where officers were looking for ways to interact more successfully with the citizens they served. The key to the program’s success is that it promotes interaction between police and civilians outside of crisis situations, according to the organization’s website.
