Coffee with a Cop took over part of the west side Friday, as dozens packed inside Sopra Antipasto and Wine Bar.

Law enforcement agencies banded together in blue to create positive conversation with the community. Many say it’s especially important for these kinds of events after the death of El Paso County Sheriff’s Detective Micah Flick.

“It’s good to see that we come together when they have problems, when they have needs, we help them out and they help us out just as much, so we absolutely come together and help out,” said Police Chief Pete Carey with the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Law enforcement says the event continues to grow because it gives the community a chance to look at law enforcement in a different light.

“This is a tough business. It’s a difficult business to work in because every single day, we go to work, we know the risk, we know that there is a chance we may not go home,” said Sheriff Bill Elder with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
