Coffee combined with conversation has long been a way for people to become better acquainted with each other.
The Kankakee police turned to this method again on Saturday when a Coffee with a Cop event was held at McDonald’s on Fifth Avenue.
It was billed as a way “to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve by removing agendas and allowing opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know officers in your neighborhood.”
Numerous officers took part and mingled with the patrons, including interim police Chief Price Dumas and Assistant Chief Willie Hunt. Similar events are planned in the future.
