McCook police officers are benefiting from an uptick in information provided by area residents, as well as improvements to the communication lines between law enforcement departments in other states.
“The Nebraska State Patrol has been great communicating to us out-of-state issues and trends,” said McCook Sr. Sgt. Kevin Darling during this morning’s Coffee with a Cop meeting at the Bieroc Cafe. Sgt. Darling indicated the information has helped with several investigations in recent months and said it also helps officers to be on the lookout for specific criminal activity or individuals, prior to local occurrences.
Area residents have also been more forthcoming than usual in recent months when it comes to providing information on suspicious activity they might witness. Sgt. Darling said the police department really appreciated the information they had been receiving and hoped citizens continued with the same energy going forward.
“The information from the public has been great. Very, very helpful. It has been instrumental in a lot of cases,” he said.
The non-emergency number for the McCook Police Department is (308) 345-3450
