The Centerville Police Department hosted Coffee With A Cop!
The event was held at the Del Taco restaurant from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019. Del Taco provided everyone with free coffee all morning, along with a 20% discount on any food or beverages purchased to customers dining in. Employees at the restaurant greeted everyone with a smile as they walked through the doors.
Not only did residents come out, but members of the council and Mayor John Harley showed up for some free coffee as well!
Chief Charles Hadden expressed how important it is to have events like this. He says, “We have some plans to do more events like this in the future. This is really good for us, it’s really good for the community, it’s a win-win for everybody. So we want to do this as much as we can.”
The department believes citizens should know who’s on their side protecting them daily.
Sgt. Michael Welch with the police department says the idea came from a citizen in the community. According to Sgt. Welch, the spark of the idea brought excitement because, he and the other officers were already thinking of ways to get more involved with the community.
Coffee With A Cop is just a start for the department. Officers say this may be the first breakfast event like this, but they are planning to have many more. So, they want you to be on the lookout.
