Bridging the gap between the public and law enforcement.

That’s the goal of Coffee with a Cop.

Bangor Police officers visited Starbucks in the Bangor Mall to meet with members of the community and enjoy a cup of joe.

While many people stopped in to say hello, a group of ladies from Bangor stole the show.

The Bangor High Class of 1953 typically meets for lunch every Thursday.

Today was no different, but their reunion ended with a few new members in blue.

“Well for one thing, to know that we have open communication is wonderful,” said Bangor resident, Eda Morrison. “They just want to be helpful and friendly and make you comfortable. And safe. And we really really like the Bangor Police officers.”

“You know it’s nice to meet people in the community and to know that people out there care about us as much as we care about them,” said Bangor Police officer, Kyle Pelkey. “You drive around behind the steering wheel, looking at a computer desk all day. The community is what it’s about.”

“I love him,” said Bangor resident, Gail Whte. “I want to take him home.”

Bangor PD says their door is always open and hope events like these help the public get to know their local law enforcement officers a little better.
