Citizens had a chance to speak with BPD officers over a cup of coffee on Friday.
The Binghamton Police Department is partnering with local McDonald’s for “Coffee with a Cop.”
Friday morning, officers were at the McDonald’s on Main Street in Binghamton talking to citizens and having a cup of coffee.
All were welcome to attend and those who did got a free coffee from McDonald’s, it’s a good way to create a bond between citizens and the boys in blue.
“We love the interaction with the citizens, again maybe that citizen has some information they can pass along to us, maybe there’s something suspicious going on their neighbor hood that hey haven’t called about but over a cup of coffee they will sit there and tell us about it and maybe it leads to something,” said Administrative Captain Larry Hendrickson.
Coffee with a Cop is national program that takes place in the Fall, BPD participated for the first time last year and decided to up it to another appearance. They hope to work towards doing this kind of community outreach every month.
Officers were also at the Court Street McDonald’s from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. as the second part of the event.
