Last week, Coffee with a Cop was held at Calypso Bay with residents of Jacobs Well and Steiglitz at Harrigans Drift Inn.
Community locals gathered at the end of the night with Senior Investigator Liam Linnane, Senior Constable Sasha Thomson, Senior Constable Dave Wood from Gold Coast Water Police, Senior Constable Kristen Smith and Senior Constable Brenda Lee, Jacobs Well Beat.
Office of Fair Trading, Senior Investigations Officer Sean Linnane, was one of the guest speakers and spoke about scams, reporting, identifying and preventing cyber fraud.
This resonated well with the businesses in attendance and as a result, they learnt precautions on how to keep their business safe from crime.
Officer Linnane encouraged fraud reporting, from the more common phone scams to any online activity, no matter how large or small it may seem.
He also explained how criminals may use these scams to purchase property and avenues to avoid criminals stealing your funds.
Gold Coast Water Police Officers, Senior Constable Sasha Thomson and Senior Constable David Wood attended the event and spoke about their role, answering residents queries about incidents and matters pertaining to their surrounding waterways, their private jetties and tidal legislation.
Their answers were well received and Water Police Officers clarified many enquiries from the floor.
Jacobs Well Beat Officer, Senior Constable Kristyn Smith spoke about UV marker pens to mark items of value and handed out pamphlets about use of varying social media platforms.
The team would like to thank all who attended and Harrigans Drift Inn for hosting another successful Coffee with a Cop event.
