The community comes out to enjoy a coffee with our cops

It was relaxed, informal, and the perfect opportunity for the community to meet with police, ask questions and voice concerns.
Chifley Police District hosted it’s second Coffee with a Cop in Bathurst, at The Coach House, on Wednesday, and were delighted with the response it generated in the local community.
Similar events have also been held in Lithgow and Cowra.
Crime Prevention Officer Senior Constable Sue Rose said Coffee With A Cop is a national initiative that gives the community the chance to come together with police in an informal, neutral space to discuss community ideas and build relationships.
“It provides a unique opportunity for people to ask questions and learn more about police work in the community,” she said, adding she hopes to make it an annual event.
And everything from road rules to crime rates was on the table.
Helen Martin was among those attending the event, and said she was glad to have the opportunity to meet with police, and put a face to the those who are at the forefront of protecting the community.
Mrs Martin said she thought it was a great idea.
“I think it’s a great way to engage the community.
“It’s great to meet with police and be able to talk to them face to face,” she said.
