coffee.jpgCoffee with a Cop is a nation-wide initiative that began in California in 2011. Police officers in Hawthorne were looking for a way to develop a more positive relationship with the residents in the community they serve. Coffee with a Cup was born and has since expanded to all fifty states and to other countries as well. Canada, Australia and countries in Europe, Latin American and Africa have begun using Coffee with a Cop to help bridge the gap between residents and law enforcement officers.

On Thursday, South Brunswick Police Department officers headed over to the Starbucks on Route One North to share a cup and have a conversation with residents. Starbucks provided free coffee and refreshments for the event. Since 2011, more than 10,000 Coffee with a Cop events have been held across the globe.
