North Platte Police Officers greeted the community with hot cups of coffee Saturday morning.

McDonald’s on Dewey held Coffee with a Cop.

Citizens of the community were able to meet police officers in an informal and neutral space.

People were able to ask questions about community issues and build relationships with law enforcement.

North Platte Chief of Police Dan Hudson said he enjoys being able to get to know the community.

“This kind of takes down those barriers and really allows us to be seen as our officers are human and they have the same exact things going on in our lives as everyone else has,” said Chief Hudson.

“We’re out shoveling walks and dealing with our kids and going to school and stuff like that.”

Chief Hudson said they plan on making it a regular event.
