The Warwick Police Department held their “Coffee with a Cop” event on Mon., Jun. 4 at the Albert Wisner Public Library in Warwick. The event drew many community members including many seniors who visit the library on Mondays for a weekly movie. This was a wonderful opportunity for seniors as well as for local residents to meet and chat with the officers while enjoying refreshments.

“Coffee with a Cop” began several years ago and allows residents to talk with officers in a casual setting, express their concerns, ask questions and get to know their local Police Department. Topics discussed included noise control in developments, traffic control for the upcoming Fourth of July festivities and speed control on local roads.

However, many simply gave thanks to the officers for all they do and for keeping the community safe. The officers reminded residents to call with any concerns they have, and if they see something suspicious, don’t hesitate to call because “we are here to help.”

Many of the attendees were interested in getting to know more about the officers and why they chose to pursue a career in law enforcement. The officers take a lot of pride in their jobs and keeping the community safe.

Lieutenant John Rader stated, “We were happy to partner with the Library and host the event there. It was a good opportunity to meet with the members of the community who attend the movie every Monday.”

As the event ended, the seniors and all those who attended took a group photo with the officers, cheerfully clapped and thanked them for a wonderful time and a job well done.
