Officers with the Texas A&M University Police Department interacted with students Wednesday morning over coffee. The event was designed for the two groups to talk about issues facing the university and build relationships.
“We just appreciate them coming by and speaking with us and spending some time with us,” said Lt. Bobby Richardson with the Texas A&M Police Department.
Students got to meet with the campus police at the Respect Lounge in the Memorial Student Center while heading to class.
“Lots of times they tell us thank you. We have a lot in common from sharing experiences from being students at Texas A&M together to working here and they realize that we have a lot in common with each other,” Richardson said.
Students also got to interact with one of the K-9 officers as well. Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative many local departments participate in. It’s supported by the U.S. Department of Justice.
