The Plainfield community was invited to talk with members of the Plainfield Police Department for the department’s latest Coffee with a Cop event at the new Biggby Coffee, 302 Dan Jones Road.
“What I’m excited about for this Coffee with a Cop is that the sheriff saw the event on Facebook and decided to participate as well,” Capt. Jill Lees said. “And Loren Delp of the Hendricks County prosecutor’s office came as well. The citizens have really enjoyed meeting with us this morning and have voiced a lot of concerns and questions.”
Sheriff Clark commented on why county deputies and himself decided to come to the event.
“I asked Jill if it would be okay if we crashed the party today because this looked like an awesome event,” he said.
Delp also discussed why he decided to attend the informal gathering.
“I’m here to support the program and to listen to concerns and answer any questions that the public has,” Delp said.
Lees said she felt that this Coffee with a Cop had the best attendance to date.
“That’s equally true as far as how many officers who have participated today,” she said. “It’s just been a great location and partnership and a great event today. Having the sheriff and Mr. Delp here has been great in showing the cohesiveness of law enforcement throughout the county.”
Members of the Plainfield and surrounding community came and went from Biggby Coffee throughout the morning, but it was the littlest visitors who were the most excited to spend time with the officers. One of those visitors was 3-year-old Max Palmer whose mom said he is a big fan of police officers and that they both attended that morning to show their appreciation for everything the department does for the public.
“We’re so community oriented that people seek us out all the time,” Capt. Jared McKee said. “Events like this are great because it gives the public another opportunity to interact with us.”
Lees said the Plainfield Police Department is proud to do Coffee with a Cop here in Hendricks County.
“We try to do this twice a year to build relationships with the community,” she said. “We chose Biggby Coffee for this meeting since they’re a newer Plainfield business and they were gracious enough to host for us.”
