Coffee with a Cop

The Hercules Police Department will be hosting two upcoming events, “Coffee with a Cop” on October 4th at Starbucks located at 3700 San Pablo Avenue in Hercules from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and on October 5th at Starbucks located at 842 Willow Avenue in Hercules from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Coffee with a Cop was launched in Hawthorne, California in 2011, and is now a nationwide program in cities all over the United States. Coffee with a Cop is designed to get the residents to interact with the Police Officers who protect and serve the community they live in every day. Sometimes people are apprehensive to approach a Police Officer, and sometimes Police Officers make themselves not easy to approach. Coffee with a Cop breaks those barriers, and gives a venue and atmosphere to just talk with each other, and find out how we can all collaborate to create a safer city, and have a better level of communication.

Sometimes it’s just about getting to know each other so we feel comfortable interacting when there is not a crime or a dangerous situation. The whole idea behind the program is to just sit down, and chat about whatever comes to mind.

We look forward to seeing as many of the Hercules residents at the events, and getting a chance to just sit down have a cup of coffee and talk about whatever comes to mind. We hope to continue to host these events, and look forward to getting to know each other better.
