On Thursday Constable Colm Hand from Bribie Island Police Station was joined by our stations Volunteer in Policing, Graham Gibb, Catherine and Lloyd Rankin from Crime Stoppers, Jan and Dawn Donaldson from the Bribie Island Dementia Support Group, and helped by Constable Tim Brown, also from Bribie Island Station.
The stand was very well attended throughout the day, with many residents calling by to not only discuss local policing issues, but also to have a chat to the officers. Thanks very much to Gloria Jeans and the management of Bribie Island Shopping Centre for making the day such a success. More Coffee with a Cop events will be held later in the year.
Of special note, a large number of donations were received at the stand from our local community, to help support the family of Senior Constable Brett Forte, who was lost so tragically last month. This is in addition to the donations we have received at the station, and also those made directly to the fund from residents in our area.
I was accompanied by 12 officers from Bribie Island Police station at the funeral service for Brett this week in Toowoomba, both on behalf of this station but also the Bribie Island community in which we serve. My officers and I have been touched by the heartfelt messages of support that we have received since Brett’s loss, not only for current serving members, but also for Brett’s family. Your kind thoughts are very much appreciated.
