Upper Darby Police Department Tuesday morning continued their installation of the national program Coffee with a Cop mingling with community members at the Upper Darby Senior Center (Watkins Center).

The coffee was flowing just as much as the conversations between township officers and the active seniors as they use the time to foster a better environment between each other.

It wasn’t long before police Superintendent Michael Chitwood was doing some aerobics with the seniors and officers joked with some card players about potential cheaters.

Others were more than happy to have the officers there, including Ida Taylor, who admits to loving a man in uniform, and that morning, she had her fair pic of about a dozen.

“Oh, my sugar’s up,” she exclaimed with euphoria after getting hugs from Capt. Anthony Paparo and Ofcr. Johnny Redheffer. Paparo promised to return to the center to give her more hugs.

Upper Darby started hosting Coffee with a Cop events in 2014, rotating from the Watkins Center, to various McDonald’s restaurants within the township.
