Hillsboro Police Department Coffee with a Cop
The Hillsboro Police Department is asking community members to share a cup of coffee with the agency’s police chief next month.
The department’s first “Coffee with a Cop” meeting will be held June 5, at Peet’s Coffee & Tea, 19250 N.W. Cornell Road. Chief Lee Dobrowolski will be at the coffee shop from 7:30-9:30 a.m.
On the department’s Facebook page, Hillsboro police posted a flier that described the coffee time this way: “No agenda or speeches, just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers in your neighborhood!”
Lt. Mike Rouches, a Hillsboro police spokesman, said the department will host the events monthly. Officers from different police units will participate each time.
Rouches said Dobrowolski brought the program from Salt Lake City, where he worked as a deputy chief before taking the top cop position in Hillsboro.
Last month, Forest Grove police held a similar event, also called “Coffee with a Cop.”
Forest Grove Police Chief Janie Schutz got the idea from an online forum through theInternational Association of Chiefs of Police, said Capt. Mike Herb, a Forest Grove police spokesman. It was born out of the Hawthorne Police Department in California, he said.
