Sergeant Nigel Dalton and I were invited to attend the Gordon White Library in Mount Pleasant this morning to participate in a Coffee with Cop event.
At its simplest, we rocked a coffee cup, socialised and responded to many queries from residents who were present.
Many of the queries were linked to specific issues however, new mobile phone penalties and legislation were prominent as were questions linked to local crime trends.
Although, we did have an agenda today as well, with security advice for home and vehicle owners discussed and relevant printouts made available on the topic.
With Valentines Day rapidly drawing closer, it was timely to discuss romance scams along with a variety of other scam related issues.
Free give-aways in the form of the Little Black Book of Scams were made available for everyone to take home and read.
These contain great general scam awareness information on a variety of categories and also good prevention tips.
The subject of how to manage your security settings on social media to protect identifying information and images was raised by attendee’s and discussed at length.
We hope that we were able to adequately answer all of your questions today, ladies and gentlemen (making this statement because we know that some of you will be reading this release).
Thanks again for your support today – and thank you to the staff at Gordon White Library for inviting us to hold our Coffee with a Cop event at your venue.
