Local police departments are partnering with Dunkin’ Donuts for National Coffee with a Cop Day.
At the Hingham Street location in Rockland, there was a solid turnout of people who met with the police department. This was the first first Coffee with a Cop event in town.
Lieutenant Nicholas Zeoli says they’re proud to be part of it.
“We have members of our Detective Bureau here, we have members of different patrol divisions. We have a good showing from the police department,” said Zeoli. “Our officers really care about the concerns of the community. We’re really happy to have them here today.”
He says it’s a casual setting where people can get to know police officers better. No matter the concern, he says they’re here to help.
“We’re trying to break down the barriers, trying to reach out to the community, just be available to them,” said Zeoli. “I think having it in a coffee shop is a good way to do that. People come in, they’re relaxed here. They’re getting their coffee before work. We’re here answering any questions they have. If they have any issues at all, we’re trying to address them. It’s all part of our community policing philosophy that we take seriously at the Rockland Police Department.”
