On Wednesday September 11, members of the Inner West Patrol Group attended Mitchelton Special School for their Coffee with a Cop event.

Officers were joined by teaching staff, students and parents of the school to spend the morning mingling with a coffee and getting to know each other.

It was also an opportunity for teaching staff and students to meet their local police to check out the police vehicles.

Our coffees were created by the barista students of the pathways program of the Mitchie My Time Cafe at the school.

It was great to hear about the Pathways program and Mitchelton Special School and we learnt that the program is divided into five pathways for the students.

These include:

  1. Supported employment
  2. Continued education and training
  3. Volunteering and community support
  4. Healthy lifestyles recreation and leisure
  5. Personal and community support

The students of “Mitchie My Time Café”, did a wonderful job looking after their guests – exceptional work and we look forward to our next visit.
