Local officers from Ashwaubenon Public Safety enjoyed coffee and refreshments with residents today at Bay Park Square mall.

The event took place at Gloria Jeans in the food court.

Officers spoke with people on recent scams/frauds they are seeing in the community and how you can keep yourself safe.

The ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Ashwaubenon Public Safety Officer Melanie Lovato said it is a good chance for cops to connect with the public:

“We really get to hear their questions and to hear the problems that we have in the community, which a lot of stuff that we find like this with fraud it’s not even brought forth to the polcie department. It’s really important for us to get out, hear their questions, answer them and then to find out what our next topics are going to be for upcoming events.”

This was the group’s second meeting with two more scheduled for the year.
